PROGRAM CHECKLIST
This check list is to act as a guide to build your Civic Season program with your
team by stages. Note that not all programs fit this checklist, some may need fewer
or more steps and each program is unique to its site, team, and environment!
This check list is a specific guide to build the Slice of History: Mexican American
Civil Rights History Lotería event by the Mexican American Civil Rights Institute.
To successfully host this event, follow these steps:
Attend Civic Season’s Slice of History info session
Complete pizza and snacks request forms
Draft the program description
Connect with faculty at a local/university (if
hosting on/near campus)
Meet with college reps to confirm dates and
visit possible locations
Create a digital flyer and public-facing program
descriptions for social media
Build an event webpage
Design and print history-themed lotería decks
and cards
Write a reference sheet describing the history
featured in the cards
Purchase beans, pebbles, or beads for gameplay
Buy prizes for participants
Develop an attendee sign-in system
Track attendance after the event
