ELECTION LOTERIA
Ever feel lost when you see unfamiliar offices on your ballot? There are
many elected positions beyond just the president or legislators to learn
about. Take a cue from Lotería, a bingo-style game steeped in MexicanAmerican culture. Get together with friends for a game but with a fun twist.
Instead of numbers, the spaces on your board represent various elected
offices. One player describes an elected office, and others place a token on
their board when they find it. The first player to get four tokens in a row and
shout "¡Lotería!" wins.
Remember: Each state and municipality is unique, and some offices may be
chosen by methods other than election (ex: appointed or nominated by
another official). Visit your local election board to learn more about the
offices up for election in your area.
