CLYDE
WARRIOR
I'm Clyde Warrior, a Ponca Indigenous American born in 1939. Raised in
Oklahoma, I became a leading figure in the American Indian Movement
(AIM) during the 1960s. After co-founding the National Indian Youth
Council, I fought tirelessly for Native American rights and sovereignty,
helping to pass the Indian Civil Rights Act of 1968. Tragically, my life was
cut short in 1968 at the age of 28, but my legacy continues to inspire
generations of Native activists. I'm remembered as a fearless warrior for
justice, whose dedication and vision paved the way for progress in the
ongoing struggle for Indigenous rights.
