Midwest
From prairies and farmlands to bustling hubs of industry, the Midwest is the
agricultural and manufacturing powerhouse of the United States with an
expansive history of immigration and labor movements.
The Midwest, or the Heartland of America, embodies the nation's diverse
heritage with its vast landscape of plains, hills, rivers, and the Great Lakes.
Resting on fertile soil, it has become known as "America's Breadbasket,"
sustaining the nation with its crops. The cultural fabric of the Midwest is woven
by generations of immigrants who have made this region their home, enriching
the region with traditions and customs from all over the world. Cities like
Chicago, Detroit, and Minneapolis-St. Paul are beacons for industry and
innovation, serving as manufacturing, technology, and commerce hubs. The
Midwestern mix of strong industries and hospitable spirit has led to pivotal
labor struggles and changing populations.
